Hello World! My name is Alicia. I am an aspiring wellness activist committed to practicing and acting on compassion in my career and personal life. As a lifelong vegetarian, I made the switch to a 100% plant based diet in October 2012. It is hands down the best and most life changing decision I have ever experienced. This journey opened my mind to much more than diet and nutritional awareness. It opened my eyes to healing at a holistic level through body and mind and soul.
I had every opportunity to choose to maintain a vegetarian diet for the feeling that it was “good enough.” But I am not the type of woman who can make peace with a “good enough” frame of mind.
After graduating from college with a B.A. in Public Relations in 2012, I sensed that health was the direction I wanted to move forward in, but I did not know fully where to find my passion or zest for life much less how to tie that into my career.
I have found it.
Veganism aside, there are so many changes that need to be made in terms of health. While I do want to further educate myself and my community about the benefits of a plant based diet, I also want to educate those around me about eating organic and local foods, avoiding genetically engineered products, moving your body, discovering that mental happy place to stay rather than visit, and so much more.
Eventually I want to pursue my Masters in Public Health with a concentration in health promotion and community outreach.
Blogging is a way for me to start placing the voice inside my head out in the public. I want to learn from you and your ideas as much as I do from my own thoughts and research.
